Just Egg Review | Vegan Egg Alternative

Here is what I think of one of the most well-known vegan egg alternatives, Just Egg.

Just Egg Review | Vegan Egg Alternative

Introduction

Just Egg is a vegan egg alternative company. I’m not sure if they are the most popular or the only vegan option available locally. Here is what I think of it.

Just Egg Plant-Based Scramble (7/10)

Just Egg had a good taste similar to regular eggs, but it didn’t stand out otherwise. It was costly for a small bottle (almost $6.00). I wished it cooked faster in the oven. My other main complaint is the lack of bottle sizes. I would instead buy a bigger container and save a little money than spend more on multiple smaller bottles.

Just Egg’s foldable eggs aren’t that great because they taste like elastic.

More Vegan Breakfast Options

There are plenty of brands that offer vegan breakfast options. You can find most of these in the freezer aisle.

MorningStar Farms (8/10)

MorningStar Farms is a meat alternative company owned by Kellogg’s. Their breakfast sausage is fantastic and cooks pretty well. I only wish they made larger sausages. The main thing to keep in mind is not all of their products are vegan. For example, their bacon contains eggs. They also need to work on having more explicit labeling of their products being vegan versus vegetarian.

Amy’s Kitchen (7.5/10)

Amy’s Kitchen is a frozen food company based out of California. They have the best vegan frozen food options around. Most of their vegan frozen options are delicious, and a few are pitiful. Their pizza is okay but not as good as Daiya’s. I’m not so familiar with their breakfast options, but I bet they are tasty.

Nature’s Path (7/10)

Nature’s Path is a Canadian organic food company that sells a lot of vegan breakfast foods. Their waffles are okay, but I wish they had more pronounced flavors. I like their cereal and granola. I haven’t tried their oatmeal and granola bars.

Safe + Fair (6.5/10)

Safe + Fair is an allergy-friendly food company that sells vegan granola and popcorn. I haven’t tried their popcorn, but I like some Safe + Fair granola flavors and not others based on my tastes. I like chocolate the best, but they don’t always sell it locally.

Gardein (6/10)

Gardein is a major vegan meat alternative company. They sell breakfast sausage patties, individual breakfast frozen meals, and a breakfast pocket. Gardein’s breakfast meals don’t cook that well in the microwave and taste dry. I don’t recall trying their breakfast sausages and breakfast pocket.

Kashi (5.5/10)

Kashi is a breakfast food company that is owned by Kellogg’s. They sell cereal, breakfast bars, and waffles and have some vegan options. I’m not sure what their waffles and breakfast bars taste like, but their cereals are hit and miss. In other words, some are okay, and others are bad.

Sweet Earth (5/10)

Sweet Earth is a frozen food brand owned by Nestlé that sells a few vegan breakfast burritos. Their products aren’t that good. Sweet Earth’s plant-based chicken is horrible and tastes like you’re eating rubber. I was not fond of their vegan frozen meals, and the burritos weren’t that good either.

Conclusion

Just Egg did better than average compared to many of the breakfast options I’ve had. They need to work on bringing the price down and making it cook faster in the oven. You may like my vegan breakfast blog post. Until next time!
