30+ Vegan Ice Cream Brands: The Ultimate Dairy-Free Guide

Introduction

Vegan ice cream is gaining popularity, not just from vegans wanting more dessert options. More people want to eat plant-based, and I know many people with lactose intolerance.

If you’re interested in trying some vegan ice cream, I found numerous vegan-friendly ice cream brands that suit your sweet tooth, including but not limited to the following.

  1. Alden’s
  2. Arctic Zero
  3. Bellefontaine
  4. Ben & Jerry’s
  5. Brave Robot

You can also buy vegan ice cream online via Ice Cream Source.

Alden’s

Alden’s sells vegan ice cream sandwiches, popsicles, and pints. You can find them at Natural Grocers.

Arctic Zero

Arctic Zero is a dairy-free ice cream brand that makes ice cream out of fava beans. Some of its flavors include cookie shake, pistachio, and cake batter.

Baskin-Robbins

Baskin-Robbins has three nondairy ice cream flavors (Lemon Sorbet, Non-Dairy Mint Chocochunk, and Daiquiri Ice) and three nondairy fruit smoothies (mango, mixed berry, and strawberry).

Bellefontaine

Bellefontaine has a dairy-free ice cream line with six vegan flavors: vegan chocolate, coconut sorbet, mango passion fruit sorbet, peanut and butter brownies, strawberry sorbet, and chocolate cookies and cream.

Note that their dairy-free vanilla and lemon tart sorbet flavors contain eggs.

Ben & Jerry’s

Ben & Jerry’s has an extensive non-dairy ice cream pint section where all of their vegan flavors have Certified Vegan logos on the packaging. They also sell vegan chocolate chip cookie dough.

Brave Robot

Brave Robot is a vegan ice cream brand with delicious flavors like blueberry pie, raspberry truffle, and buttery pecan.

Breyers

Breyers has three dairy-free flavors that are all vegan: cookies and cream, chocolate chocolate chip, mint chocolate chip, and vanilla peanut butter swirl.

Cado

Cado is the first vegan ice cream I tried right after going vegan in 2017. Their vegan avocado ice cream flavors include mint chocolate chip, simply lemon, and chocolate mud pie.

Chloe’s

Chloe’s sells vegan popsicles, vegan soft-serve fruit, and vegan ice cream sandwiches. Some flavors include Avengers, raspberry chip, pomegranate, and brownie batter.

Coconut Bliss

Coconut Bliss sells various flavors of coconut ice cream. They used to sell an ice cream maker and soft-serve mix but not anymore.

Note, that their plant-based ice cream is dairy-free and vegan, but they also have a grass-fed dairy line that isn't vegan.

Dairy Queen

Dairy Queen now has vegan ice cream with their vegan Dilly bars. Hopefully, more fast-food chains will have some vegan ice cream options soon.

Drumsticks

Nestlé now has vegan Drumsticks. You can now have non-dairy caramel sundae and vanilla-chocolate swirl sundae Drumsticks, but hopefully, more vegan flavors will come soon.

Favorite Day

Favorite Day is one of the Target brands that replaced Target’s discontinued Archer Farms. They sell vegan ice cream pints and vegan ice cream popsicles.

Full Circle Market

Full Circle Market makes many organic products, including four vegan ice cream flavors.

G.S. Gelato

G.S. Gelato is a gelato and sorbet company based out of Florida. Their plant-based frozen desserts line has vegan flavors like chocolate, strawberry almond crisp, and cold brew coffee.

GoodPop

GoodPop sells numerous gluten-free and dairy-free popsicles, and all of their vegan products are labeled vegan on the packaging. They would have good vegan options for an orange creamsicle, a fudgesicle, or a fruity popsicle.

Graeter’s

Graeter’s has a vegan ice cream line called Perfect Indulgence. Some of their flavors include Oregon strawberry, black raspberry chocolate chip, and Madagascar vanilla bean.

Häagen-Dazs

Häagen-Dazs used to have vegan ice cream popsicles and pints. They now only have nondairy sorbets, but that is better than nothing.

Halo Top

Halo Top used to sell a dairy-free ice cream line that’s all vegan. Now, they only sell fruit sorbets that are Certified Vegan.

Jude’s

Jude’s now has a few vegan ice cream pint and popsicle flavors, which include but are not limited to cookie dough brownie, salted caramel, and Belgian chocolate. However, I would not classify their vegan honeycomb ice cream as vegan if they use real honeycomb pieces and dust in it.

They also a vegan chocolate shake and vegan vanilla custard.

Kind

In 2021, Kind released a vegan ice cream line, and they do not sell any dairy ice cream. Even though they do not sell it anymore, they still have four plant-based frozen bars that are vegan.

Magnum

Magnum sells three vegan ice cream popsicles: classic, almond, and sea salt caramel. You can find them at Target.

My/Mochi

Mochi has a donut-like outside and an ice cream inside, but not all mochi contains ice cream. My/Mochi sells three vegan mochi flavors: strawberry, salted caramel, and chocolate.

NadaMoo!

NadaMoo! sells over a dozen vegan ice cream pints and snake bites. They used to have pint bundles, like chocolate lovers, but not anymore. You can find them at Natural Grocers.

Nick’s

Nick’s sells seven vegan (animal free) ice cream flavors: double chocolate, Swedish mint chip, peanut butter swirl, hazelnut swirl, strawberry cream, vanilla bean, and caramel swirl. I ordered a few pints online, and the ice creams were super frozen when I got them because they were packaged with dry ice.

Oatly

Oatly is a vegan dairy alternative company like Silk, Daiya, and So Delicious. They sell several pints of oat ice cream.

Planet Oat

Planet Oat is a vegan dairy alternative company. Some of their vegan ice cream flavors are blueberry oat crumble, coffee fudge swirl, and chocolate chip cookie dough.

Sambazon

Sambazon sells a variety of açaí foods, and they are based out of California. They sell açaí smoothie pops and bites and açaí sorbet that are all vegan.

Simple Truth

Simple Truth is a brand of Kroger, similar to how Favorite Day is a Target brand. They sell vegan ice cream pints and popsicles.

So Delicious

So Delicious gets the award for having the most vegan ice cream options on this list. From pints of caramel apple crumble ice cream to peanut butter popsicles, I bet you’ll find some flavors that you should make some room for in your freezer.

Sweet Nothings

If you prefer something a little healthier, Sweet Nothings sells vegan frozen spoonable smoothies and to-go smoothies. Some flavors include blueberry, peanut butter, and tropical greens.

SweetPea

SweetPea is a dairy-free ice cream company out of Virginia. Note that not all of their flavors are vegan, but the vegan ones are labeled vegan.

  • They used to sell a raspberry pie flavor that contained eggs but not anymore.
  • I don’t get why their cookies and cream flavor isn’t vegan based on the ingredient list.

Talenti

Talenti produces many gelatos and sorbetti (aka sorbets).

  • They sell two vegan sorbetto flavors: Alphonso mango and Roman raspberry. They are also available as popsicles (mini sorbetto bars).
  • The other two dairy-free sorbettos (cold brew coffee and dark chocolate) are not vegan due to containing egg.
  • Some previous vegan flavors are strawberry hibiscus and coconut chocolate cookie layers.

Temptation

Temptation Vegan Soft Serve is a vegan soft serve ice cream company that’s manufactured by Chicago Vegan Foods, which also makes Dandies marshmallows. They produce vanilla and chocolate soft serve ice cream mixes for commercial purposes.

Meanwhile, Temptation Vegan Frozen Dessert part of the company makes three-gallon containers of hard ice cream commercially.

Tofutti

Tofutti sells three vegan ice cream sandwich flavors and six vegan ice cream flavors. I’ve seen the regular ice cream sandwiches at Hy-Vee, and I’m unsure where they sell the Tofutti ice cream pints.

Van Leeuwen

Van Leeuwen is an ice cream company based out of New York City. They now sell vegan ice cream pints. Some of their flavors include strawberry shortcake, brown sugar chunk, and churros & fudge.

Brands that Previously Sold Vegan Ice Cream

  • Forager Project used to sell vegan ice cream, but it is not listed on the website anymore.
  • O’My! made dairy-free gelato, which was all vegan. As of August 2023, their website does not work anymore, and their socials have not been active since December 2022. They might have closed. If anyone knows more, please put more info in the comments.
  • Revolution Gelato sold vegan gelato pints and vegan mini gelato pies. As of August 2023, Google said the business is permanently closed.
  • Wonderlab’s Doozy Pots produced dairy-free gelato that’s all vegan. I learned about them after they commented on my Instagram post about this vlog. As of April 17, 2023, on their Instagran, they closed for good.

Conclusion

Many brands produce vegan ice cream, and I’ll keep adding them to this list when I hear of more vegan ice cream options. In the meantime, I’ll figure out how to eat all of the leftover vegan mint chip ice creams from doing this vlog without getting too tired of them.
